The Lady Stags' win tied them for the top spot with the UST Tigresses with identical 6-1 slates and sent the defending champion Lady Falcons tied for fourth spot with the Lady Eagles with their similar 4-3 cards. FEU finished the elimination with a 5-2 card to bag third spot and the third quarterfinal berth. The playoff between the Lady Falcons and Lady Eagles is 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. University of San Jose-Recoletos of Cebu and University of St. La Salle-Bacolod will join the qualifiers in another single-round robin quarterfinal. As expected Thai import Jaroensri Bualee led San Sebastian with 24 points while getting enough support from Laurence Ann Latigay, who contributed 20 hits, as San Sebastian won is sixth straight game following a defeat against UST in their opening match. Reigning most valuable player Nerissa Bautista scored 24 points for the Lady Falcons and a combined 20 points from Angela Benting and Jill Gustillo. |
