Talk ‘N Text blew an 18-point first-half lead then rallied from 10 points down to nip San Miguel Beer, 106-103, Wednesday night and take a commanding 3-1 lead in their KFC-PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Jimmy Alapag and Mac Cardona shone in the homestretch as the Tropang Texters moved within a victory of topping the Beermen for the first time in a series and returning to the Finals since 2007.

The duo combined for 26 points in the fourth period after rookie Jared Dillinger jump-started the Talk ‘N Text offense to eventually finish with a career-high 27 points.

Talk ‘N Text, which lost to Alaska in the Fiesta Cup Finals two years ago, will be eyeing just a second full-length tournament title since the 2003 All-Filipino Cup.

“Just like in Game 3, we thought we already won it and they came back,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Chot Reyes. “We stayed with them (Beermen) until the end.”

San Miguel also had its heroes, but the Beermen fell short for the second straight night after failing to get it done in the end game.

Danny Seigle scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds before fouling out with 27.3 seconds left, and Jay Washington, who missed Game 3 after attending to his wife who gave birth, scattered 23 but was scoreless in the fourth.

Dillinger shot 14 of the team’s first 17 points in the first seven minutes to outscore the entire San Miguel crew by one.

He finished with 18 points in the first period and 20 for the half built on 4-of-4 three-point shooting as the Texters took a 57-48 lead at the break.
