 Talk ‘N Text and Alaska shoot for similar 3-1 leads Wednesday but with contrasting approaches needed in Game Four of their KFC Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup showdown at the Astrodome in Pasay City.The Tropang Texters conquered San Miguel the last time in what obviously was the best game of the series yet (110-106), while the Aces dropped a defense-oriented 76-65 contest to Sta. Talk ‘N Text gave up 25 free throw attempts in the eliminations, but that number has skyrocketed in the first three games of the series where it has already given up a combined 42 free throw attempts. “We should figure out why the other team has already taken 42 more free throws than us in the past three games," said Tropang Texters coach Chot Reyes. In its Game Three victory, the Tropang Texters gave away 18 more free throws. They made 19-of-24 from the charity line while San Miguel shot 37-of-43. Meanwhile, defense, the aspect Sta. Lucia has always been noted for, clearly was executed well by the Realtors after coming out empty in the second half of the first two games of the series. They held the Aces to their lowest output on a horrible 23-of-58 shooting (39.7 percent). Alaska, the No.1 seeded team after the eliminations, averaged 52 percent from the field in Games One and Two. Still, SLR coach Boyet Fernandez will have to be prepared for whatever adjustment Cone and the Aces might deploy. “If Game Three is crucial, Game Four will be more crucial for our team," said Fernandez. “We clearly have to sustain our intensity and composure." |
