Alaska coach Tim Cone said winning Game 1 was the easiest step to take in his return semifinal confrontation with defending champion Sta. Lucia Realty.“We’ll need to see how we bounce back for Game 2,” Cone declared Wednesday night after his Aces broke away in the fourth period to pound out a 92-76 victory over the Realtors to draw first blood in their best-of-seven KFC Philippine Cup Final Four series. “We have a long memory,” Cone added, recalling how the series-opener of last year’s series went their way before they eventually lost, 3-4. “We know we won Game 1 (last year) kind of easy and then lost Games 2 and 3. “Our goal right now is to really come back and follow up this victory,” he said. Joe Devance scored 17 points, Willie Miller scored 12 of his 14 points in the final two periods and Jeffrey Cariaso shot six of his eight in the fourth quarter to fuel the Alaska breakaway in the final nine minutes. Devance, acquired at the start of the season from Rain or Shine, hit 10 of his total in the third period. He also had two blocks while playing for 31 minutes. The Aces dropped a 10-0 bomb entering the final nine minutes to break a 71-all tie and cruise the rest of the way.
