Reigning UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn has no qualms in facing "the future of MMA" George Saint-Pierre in a rematch on January 31 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At stake is Saint-Pierre’s welterweight title as both fighters clash in UFC 94. George Saint-Pierre is more popularly known as GSP.

"I've been welterweight champion before so the belt is important but not as important as beating George Saint-Pierre," said Penn in one of UFC.com’s promotional interviews for UFC 94.

GSP won by a split decision over the Hawaii-based fighter during their first meeting in 2006. Penn dominated the fight in the first round only to lose steam in the next two.

"The one thing Saint-Pierre will know as soon as we start fighting is 'Man, that's not the same BJ Penn. He's different now, he's not the same guy that i remember,'" said Penn.

Penn, who holds an MMA record of 13-4-1, said the key in vanquishing the reigning welterweight king is to outdo him.

"To beat GSP, you actually have to be better than him, and that's what I am," said Penn.

Saint-Pierre, who hails from Montreal, Canada, has a 17-2-0 record.

Should Penn win, he will make history by becoming the first UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight divisions at the same time.

Dan Henderson achieved a similar feat at the PRIDE Fighting Championships where he won the 205-pound title from Wanderlei Silva while holding 183-lb crown.

UFC 94 will be aired Saturday (Sunday in Manila) via Skycable's Balls Channel.
