The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is dangling three-year pacts worth as much as P6.4 million for each prospective member of the national development pool. The SBP offer will be a boon for players in the pool who still have years of college eligibility left, like future PBA draftees Mark Barroca of Far Eastern University, Ogie Menor of San Beda College and Ateneo de Manila University’s Ryan Buenafe. SBP executive director Noli Eala Tuesday said they have started giving out contract proposals to at least 12 players in the pool. Eight more are expected to receive various offers. “We expect to hear from the players on Sunday whether they would stick it out with the national team or not,” said Eala. Among those presented with the proposal were reigning UAAP MVP Rabeh Al-Hussaini, his Ateneo teammates Chris Tiu and Buenafe; RJ Jazul and Rey Guevarra of Letran College; Marcy Arellano of University of the East; Jason Balesteros of San Sebastian College, and FEU’s JR Cawaling, Barroca and Menor. |
