Defending champion Far Eastern University (FEU) came back into high gear Saturday beating University of the East, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18, in the resumption of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball tournament at the FEU gym.
Returning from a three-week Christmas break, the Lady Tamaraws bucked a first set defeat and showed their old form to remain unblemished after six games. “Masyadong naging mahaba ang Christmas break, medyo gigil pa ang mga bata maglaro. Pero mabuti nalang at bumalik ‘yung laro nila (It was a long Christmas break and they are overeager to play. Good thing they recovered)," said FEU coach Nes Pamilar on the first-set defeat. Mecaila Morada finished with 19 points while Cherry May Vivas and Rachel Anne Daquis added 16 and 15 markers as the Lady Tamaraws bucked a first set loss. Mary Cristel Rosale had 14 points and Ginaflor Alanguilan contributed 11 for the Lady Warriors, who suffered their fourth loss in six matches. The Lady Tamaraws took solo leadership over idle Adamson and La Salle, which spring back into action on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan. The Lady Falcons take on University of the Philippines at 2:00 p.m. while the Lady Archers go up against Ateneo at 4:00 p.m. |
