Barring unforeseen circumstances, Air21 would be sporting a new look in PBA’s season-ending tournament next month, what with a new coach in Joseller “Yeng” Guiao, and probably, with the team bearing a new name.

In a sudden turn of events yesterday, Guiao has agreed in principle to handle Air21, ending weeks of guessing game that followed after his resignation from Red Bull last Dec. 27.http://www.sportsnews.ph/images/PBA/REDBULL/yeng.jpg
“We have agreed in principle, and formality na lang ang hinihintay natin,” Guiao told Tribune, adding that only the minor details and the finishing touches are to be ironed out.

“But I don’t see any problem,” added Guiao, who met with Mikee Romero, one of the stakeholders who will run or handle Air21 when it changes to Burger King in the Fiesta Conference slated to tentatively start on Feb. 28.

According to Guiao, some of the minor details he is set to discuss with Romero include the team’s philosophy, the coaching staff he would bring along, and the team’s ambitious bid to duplicate a winning tradition that Romero’s Harbour Centre had achieved in the Philippine Basketball League.

Guiao added they had not touched anything about compensation,” saying “wala naman problema dun.”

“Siguro ang aayusin na lang namin ay kung gaano sa coaching staff ko ang pwede ko madala, yung diskarte sa practice, and probably yung players or team’s competitiveness,” said Guiao, who cited the same reason why he resigned from Red Bull.
