Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella said Friday Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao is in good hands. Puentevella, a former Philippine Sports Commissioner and senior vice chairman of the House Committee on Sports Development, made the observations after visiting Pacquiao in Cebu City, where he decided to train in seclusion at the Rex “Wakee” Salud Gym. The Bacolod lawmaker witnessed Pacquiao’s dedication under the watchful eyes of coach Freddie Roach, who earlier said his ward is already 70 percent in his training and continues to improve. Puentevella, however, advised Salud and Roach to watch out as Pacquiao might peak early in his preparations. “But make no mistake, Manny really shows the determination of a true champion. He is more focused on giving Marco Antonio Barrera a run for his money,” the sports leader-turned-congressman said, shortly after interacting with Pacquiao himself. The Pacquiao-Barrera clash is slated October 6, 2007, in the US. Source: Sun Star |
