Filipino International Master Ronald Bancod trounced Fide Master Anas Nazreen Bakri of India in the eighth round Saturrday to lead the Philippine campaign in the 2007 Dato Artur Tan Malaysian Open at the Cititel Midvalley Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Bancod raised his total to 5.5 points and shared 9th to 14th places with IM Wang Rui and Wang Li of China, GM Nguyen Anh Dung of Vietnam, IM Sadikin Irwanto of Indonesia and FM Yee-Weng Lim of Malaysia.

It was a bad day for other Filipinos, however as IMs Richard Bitoon, Barlo Nadera and Oliver Dimakiling and National Masters Emmanuel Senador and Rolando Nolte suffered reversals.
