The San Sebastian Stags beat the Philippine Christian University Dolphins, 68-57, at Wednesday’s main match-up in the 84th NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Gilbert Bulawan led the Stags against the Dolphins for their fourth win in eight outings.

PCU zoomed ahead during the opening minutes of the first quarter by posting a 9-2 run against San Sebastian. The Stags quickly recouped and closed to the quarter to their favor, 15-14.

By the end of the third quarter, the Stags have already widened their lead against the Dolphins by tightening their defense. PCU refused to throw in the towel as they tried cutting down San Sebastian’s lead.

The Dolphins lost steam during the last two minutes, allowing the Stags to score their fourth win.

San Sebastian improved their record with a 4-4 slate while PCU dropped to 1-7.

The Letran Knights, meanwhile, defeated the St. Benilde Blazers, 90-65, during Wednesday’s NCAA opener.

Dino Daa scored 20 points to lead the Knights past the Blazers.

Letran’s win is a rebound from their 71-67 loss to defending champion San Beda Red Lions last week.

The win improved Letran’s record to a league-best 7-1 card while the St. Benilde dropped to 3-5.
