The first lesson Eric Ang learned out of his short campaign in the Olympics? It’s a whole different game.
“Iba talaga ang Olympics. Nalaman ko na kulang pa pala ang preparasyon ko dito sa Beijing. I guess it was a good learning experience," Ang said.
The most senior RP Olympian certainly looked new to the whole Olympic competition.
He came into the tournament with modest credentials, producing decent finishes in competitions abroad that included stints in a couple of Grand Prix in Germany and Serbia. But Ang, who got a pass to Beijing by virtue of a wild card awarded him by the international federation, was nowhere near his best form.
On Saturday, Ang fired 19, 24 and 22 birds in the first three sessions of 25 birds each for 65 points to tie four others from 29th to 33rd places, a poor start that virtually knocked him out of the running for the six-man championship.
On Sunday, Ang shot dismal rounds of 21 and 20 to score 106, tying participants from Spain and Bolivia with the same tally and finished 35th of 35 participants.
“The Olympics was a learning experience. Sa susunod, paghahandaan ko talaga," he said. – GMANews.TV
