The Philippines' top professional golfers will have another playing ground on board this year as the fledgling Mercedes-Benz Tour sets up its schedule of events beginning with the $50,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Singapore on March 11. Angelo Que of the Philippines, the Mercedes-Benz Tour Order of Merit title holder with US$32,209 in earnings, will lead the country's campaign in the nine events lined up in the Tour spread across six countries. Joining Que are Mars Pucay, Tony Lascuna and comeback player of the year Robert Pactolerin.
“We enjoyed an excellent 2008 season and we are delighted to be able to boast another season-long line up of tournaments. Despite the challenging economic climate, we are grateful to Mercedes-Benz for its support in ensuring that we are on course for another fine year," said Mercedes-Benz Tour enexecutive chairman AC Wong. Also on schedule are the Singha Pattaya Open, ICTSI Mt. Malarayat Championship, International Championship, Sabah Masters, Mercedes-Benz Masters Malaysia, B-ing Championship, and Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia. The Mercedes-Benz Masters Vietnam, the season-ending affair which is the Tour Championship, will have a prize purse of $80,000.
