GM So draws 4th round match at World Juniors Chess

FILIPINO Grandmaster Wesley So settled for a draw with GM Manuel Hoyos Leon of Mexico (Elo 2453) in Tuesday's fourth round of the 2008 World Junior Chess Championship for Boys and Girls in Gaziantep, Turkey.

The No. 11 seed So, who holds an Elo Fide rating of 2577 raised his total 3.0 points on account of 2 wins and 2 draws after four games of play. He is now tied at 7th place along with 14 others that includes his fifth round opponent GM Alejandro Ramirez of Costa Rica (Elp 2531), who brought down Niccolo Ronchettit of Italy (Elo 2434).

National Master Haridas Pascua (2174), on the other hand, bowed to Fide Master Milan Pacher of Slovakia (Elo 2361) to remain stuck at at 1.0 point. His next round opponent is Lutfullah Uludogan of Turkey (Unrated), who lost to Ivan Serena of Serbia and Montenegro (Elo 2289) in their fourth round match.

Meanwhile GM Eltaj Safarli (Elo 2527) of Azerbaijan defeated GM Bassem Amin of Egypt (2561) to grab the solo leadership with an unbeaten score of 4.0 points.
