PacmanIs this a portent of things to come for Ricky Hatton? In an apparent warning to the Hitman from Manchester, Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao served notice of his business-like attitude towards their upcoming fight by displaying awesome firepower right on the very first day of sparring sessions in LA.

According to a report by Philboxing.com’s Dr. Ed dela Vega, Pacquiao knocked down his sparring boxer, Art Hovhannesyan, in the second round on Tuesday at the Wildcard gym.

The sparring, however, was cut short after the Filipino pound-for-pound king unleashed a stinging left hook that, despite head gear, opened a cut on the upper eyelid of the boxer from Glendale, California.

An Armenian, lightweight campaigner Art Hovhannesyan is described as a “pretty respectable boxer," holding a record of seven wins (two via knockout) and a draw.

The 30-year-old Pacquiao is the thick of training for his highly-anticipated “Battle of East and East" tussle with Hatton on May at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

A four-division champion, Pacquiao is gunning for Hatton’s Ring Magazine and International Boxing Organization world junior welterweight title.
