The deal has been virtually sealed with only a slight variation in figures expected to be threshed out soon. The camps of Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton continued to play a waiting game Tuesday but the threat of their megabuck tiff being junked seemed to have dissipated. Both have laid down their cards, Pacquiao seeking a 60-40 revenue sharing in his favor and Hatton asking for a 50-50 split, and both have seen the light. Pacquiao, the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter, is now reportedly keeling on a 55-45 deal just to make the May 2 bout—and the projected revenues of from $30 million to $50 million that go with it—come true. British icon Hatton, on the other hand, is willing to forget his dream of a 50-50 sharing for the fight to materialize and prove that he’s unbeatable at 140 pounds. Select members of Team Pacquiao gathered at his mansion in Gen. Santos City Tuesday night, awaiting word from Top Rank boss Bob Arum. Close Pacquiao associate Rex “Wakee” Salud believes the fight is a go. |
