World Boxing Council lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao has admitted that he will be the underdog should the planned clash against Oscar "Golden Boy" dela Hoya pushes through in December. He, however, said that since he is not getting any younger, he would like to make his mark in boxing history with the dela Hoya challenge.

"Hindi na po ako bumabata at gusto kong makuha ang ilan sa mga pinakamalalaking laban na siyang magtatala sa aking alamat bilang isang boxer. I like challenges and I know we will be the big underdog in this fight," Pacquiao wrote in his online column, "Kumbinasyon," from Las Vegas.

The Filipino ring icon said he has talked to his closest friends and they told him that indeed, dela Hoya is "bigger, heftier and has a longer reach.

Despite this, Pacquiao remains upbeat on his chances.

"I have been thinking about fighting him and I think there is a quite a good chance of beating him," the four-division champ said.

Pacquiao added that once he meets with American promoter Bob Arum, he will set the conditions of which the fight must pass through. These inlude weight limits, purses and other vital matters.

And should the negotiations bear fruit, Pacquiao said he will not leave any stone unturned.

"Sa aking pag-iisip, kailangan kong maabot ang pinakamagandang kondisyon ng aking career at dalawa't-kalahating buwan ang aking guguguling panahon para sa paghahanda gaya ng paghahanda ko kay Marco Antonio Barrera noong 2003," he said.

Pacquiao, his family, business manager and lawyer arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday. The original plan was for a Thursday arrival but plans had to be rearranged since Pacquiao attended President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address on Monday.
