PBA twinbill highlights Rizal capitol inaugural MANILA, Philippines - Crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra opens defense of its crown against Coca-Cola as action in the import-laced Motolite PBA Fiesta Conference resumes tomorrow at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

The Gin Kings, who beat the Air21 Express (now the Burger King Titans) to win the crown last year, take on the Tigers in the 7:30 p.m. main game of an exciting twinbill that also pits Alaska and San Miguel Beer at 4:50 p.m.

In conjunction with the inauguration of the Rizal province’s new provincial capitol in Antipolo, entrance to the games is free, according to Gov. Junjun Ynares.

“We in the PBA congratulate Gov. Junjun Ynares and the provincial government of Rizal on the inauguration of their new provincial capitol. We also take this opportunity to thank Gov. Ynares for his strong and unconditional support to the PBA over the years. We wish him well on his birthday on March 4,” said PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios.

The new provincial capitol and the Ynares Sports Center are located in the same complex in Antipolo. The old Rizal provincial capitol is in Pasig.

Rod Nealy is rejoining the Kings, hoping to provide the energy and intensity Ginebra drew from Chris Alexander in their successful title run in the 2008 tourney. The Kings failed to make it past the quarterfinal round with Nealy as import in 2007.

But the former Houston Baptist mainstay has reportedly improved a lot.

Nealy is up against another returning import in J.J. Sullinger, a former Talk n Text reinforcement now with Coca-Cola.

In the other game, Galen Young returns to the Alaska camp, going up against the team, SMB, which he powered to a semifinal finish in 2007.

Nate Carter debuts with the Beermen.

Burger King, Rain or Shine and Purefoods gained the head start in the tourney, winning their respective matches over the weekend.

The Titans clobbered the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 96-87, in a road game in Dumaguete Saturday while the Elasto Painters topped the Barako Bull Energy Boosters, 91-83, and the Giants dwarfed the Talk n Text Tropang Texers, 131-121, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
