The Purefoods Giants are having a tough time looking for a suitable import for their Motolite PBA Fiesta Conference campaign.According to PBA.ph, Purefoods lost two prospects as Reggie Larry suffered an injury in a tune-up game Wednesday and Harvey Thomas measured beyond the 6-foot-6 ceiling imposed by the PBA. "Thomas is another good talent we lost," said Purefoods mentor Ryan Gregorio. "It's very unfortunate Thomas measured beyond the limit. He's good. He's a teammate of Rod Nealy (of Barangay Ginebra) and JJ Sullinger (of Coca-Cola) in the CBA." Thomas completed his collegiate basketball career at Baylor after starting at Georgetown and transferring to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Community College. A forward, Thomas earned All-Big 12 Third Team honors as a junior, averaging 15.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He started in 18 of 21 games of that campaign. Gregorio said Marquin Chandler is their original choice but he's still tied up in Japan. He will be available to fly to Manila the soonest in April. Other PBA teams are also busy checking out prospects that they could field as imports. Talk ‘N Text sent coach Chot Reyes to the US to have their prospect personally checked. Alaska is busy searching a temporary import as original choice Rosell Ellis remained unavailable. Rain or Shine meanwhile has decided to start the conference playing Charles Clark III while waiting for Jai Lewis. Aside from Clark, Nealy and Sullinger, other imports set to this coming conference are Nate Carter for San Miguel, Scooter MacFadgon for Barako Bull, AJ Jackson for Sta. Lucia and Shawn Daniels for Burger King. |
