The clash between the two teams is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. with the Batang Pier determined to stretch their winning run to seven after sweeping the first round of the seven-team tournament. The Batang Pier team leaned on another late-game brilliance from Reed Juntilla to pull off a 76-75 win over the Wizards in the first round. Clashing in the first game at 2 p.m. are the Burger King Stunners and Bacchus Energy Warriors with both teams desperately seeking a win to revive their bids for two outright semis berth in the season-opening tournament. The Stunners tote a 2-4 card while the Energy Warriors carry a 2-5 record. Bacchus coach Lawrence Chongson will again rely on new recruit Patrick Cabahug, Paul Lee, Parri Llagas and James Martinez. Enjoying a new-found vigor and enthusiasm, the Wizards finished the first round at 5-1 – their only loss was inflicted by the six-peat seeking Harbour Centre last month at the Jose Rizal University gym. They now sport a 6-1 record after beating the Energy Warriors, 75-72, last week, a win Magnolia coach Koy Banal hopes will serve them in good stead in their crucial clash with the Batang Pier. |
