THE Sta Lucia Realtors beat the Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants 112-101 yesterday to take a 2-1 lead in the finals series of the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup. The Realtors used a 12-2 run to open the fourth quarter to take control of the game and break an 81-all deadlock. The Giants tried valiantly to cut the deficit later in the period, but their efforts came up short and were left with the two-game hole in the best-of-seven championship. Kelly Williams led the victors with 23 points, while Nelbert Omolon had 19 and Joseph Yeo 16. James Yap scored a game-high 28 markers to pace the Giants, and Kerby Raymundo contributed 22 with Peter Jun Simon scoring 21 in the loss. The Realtors will hope to take a virtually insurmountable 3-0 lead in game three on Wednesday. |
