Trailing by two, 81-79, Miller buried the step-back trey with 7.6 seconds left in the game that somewhat put pressure on the Gin Kings to score at the other end. Ginebra coach Jong Uichico called a timeout to design one final play.
Alaska, however, tightened up its defense forcing Chico Lanete to fire an attempt that hit the ring. Sonny Thoss grabbed the defensive rebound then ran towards the Alaska frontcourt as time expired that preserved the Aces’ second straight win for a 2-3 card. Miller paced the Aces with 18 points, four rebounds and seven assists while Rossell Ellis added 16 markers. Rod Nealy scored 23 points to lead Ginebra’s losing cause, its fourth straight after a 110-103 win over Coca-Cola on March 4. Willie Wilson added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
