BaseballSeries III champion Batangas surprised Muntinlupa, 3-0, Sunday to barge into the semifinal ranks of Baseball Philippines’ Series IV at the Rizal Baseball Stadium.

A report posted on SportsNews.ph said the Batangas Bulls drew strength from Valdimir Eaguia, Chris Canlas and Junifer Pinero at the plate to pull the rug from under the Muntinlupa Mariners.

With the win, the Bulls arranged a duel with Cebu Dolphins in a clash of past champions in the semifinal round next week. Cebu, which captured the Series II plum, clinched the top seeding after emerging with an 8-2 slate.

MANILA, Philippines - The Cebu Dolphins made it to their fourth straight playoffs. And it was at the expense of the defending champion.

Center-fielder Jonash Ponce and right-fielder Carlo Conge had two RBIs each and Cebu's bats were stuck in automatic, as the Dolphins blasted the Batangas Bulls 11-1 in the Baseball Philippines Series IV Sunday at the Rizal Ballpark.

That means the Dolphins (7-2) have made it to each postseason since the league's inaugural competition in early 2007.

MANILA, Philippines--Defending champion Cebu and streaking Batangas square off today to decide which team will get to the finals first in the Baseball Philippines Series 3 at the Rizal Memorial ball park.

The Series 2 titlists rolled over the Antipolo Pilgrims, 13-3, last Sunday to make it to the semifinals against the Bulls, who have been waiting in the wings after making it to the next stage outright with idle leader Manila.

Batangas enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage against Cebu in their 11 a.m. match. A victory for the Cebu Dolphins would send the series to a rubber match Sunday.

Taguig and Dumaguete lock horns in the morning game to decide which team will face Manila in the other semifinal match.
